You are always in control when being hypnotised…and yes…this means you can choose to be in control of your thoughts and feelings anytime…
….up to a point.
We all experience random thoughts passing through our minds, up to 60,000 per day. So how is that in any kind of control you may ask? The control comes when you realise that its not having the thoughts that’s an issue. Our brain simply has thoughts as part of its on-going electrical/neuro-chemical activity. Its what you do with your thoughts that matters.

Here are some options for increasing the amount of control over your life.
- you can pay attention to thoughts or let them go – think of them like clouds in the sky building and then dissipating.
- you can bring your awareness to thoughts and check – is this true? How else can I think about this? What ways would someone I admire think about this?
- am I in the present moment or dragging the future (usually anxious thoughts) or the past (usually old patterns and pain) into the present
- am I thinking from a problem space – Ask yourself: “what would I like to have happen instead?”
Once you recognise you are in a self-induced trance you can change it to a more helpful trance. You might be able to do this with mindfulness and you can also get support from a hypnotherapist.
