BodyMind-Shift for IBS:
Find relief using the successful international IBS4IBS Protocol.
Do you suffer from IBS? Did you know that in the UK the IBS4IBS Protocol was offered to patients within the National Health Service (NHS) with a 97% effectiveness rate? Studies from Manchester University also show 70% of IBS sufferers successfully experience relief following a hypnotherapy treatment protocol.
I have been certified to offer the IBS4IBS protocol here in Australia by completing a unique and thorough program of study and assessment. The IBS4IBS training program is approved by The International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy.
IBS4IBS hypnotherapy techniques can help you to take direct control of your IBS. You will receive mp3 audios to support your journey towards wellness between sessions. You will also develop skills in self-hypnosis for self-care.
“IBS is ideal for treatment with hypnosis, as there is no structural damage to the body,” explained Professor Whorwell, Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology in the University’s Medical School and Director of the South Manchester Functional Bowel Service, “During hypnotherapy, sufferers learn how to influence and gain control of their gut function, and then seem to be able to change the way the brain modulates their gut activity.” Science News, Sept 28th 2005.
Studies at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, also show that psychological treatment using hypnosis may offer effective, lasting relief. “We have four different studies showing that hypnotherapy helps treat IBS, even when the treatment is not provided by highly specialized hypnotherapy centers. The treatment improves gastrointestinal symptoms and quality of life, and patient satisfaction is very high” Science News, 18th December 2012
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is an individual. Some clients feel better within a couple of sessions. Most clients experience improvement within 6-8 sessions. You will know when you feel ready to finish our treatment process and I encourage clients to have just as many sessions as they need and no more than they need.
What happens in a session?
In the first session we will talk about your experience and history with IBS. I will take the time to get to know how it is for you, what you understand and together we will work out what you’d like to achieve. This session usually takes 90 minutes.
Each session thereafter is around 50-60 minutes.
How often will I need to see you?
Ideally, sessions are fortnightly for the first 6 (until mid-way review. I give clients questionnaires before the first and sixth appointments so we can measurably track progress towards your goals. After mid-way review appointments are usually monthly.
Do I need to do anything before I make my appointment?
Most clients come with a diagnosis of IBS from their specialist or GP but if you haven’t then please have a full health screen first. This can be both reassuring and help us to attend to what’s actually going on for you. If you have had any change in symptoms I’d encourage you to have those changes checked by your GP before we start our work together.
