Journalling with colour and creativity can be easy and fun!
Maybe you already journal from time to time but you would love to add images, colour and creativity into your journalling practice.
Maybe that sounds a little scary to you? You haven’t drawn anything since school and that wasn’t a great experience.
Don’t worry we can walk you through simple techniques to add images, colour, texture, shapes, collage and more to your journal.
These workshops are designed for anyone wanting to write about and reflect on their own life. No particular writing or artistic skills required. If you have never drawn or used collage, if you ‘can’t draw a stick figure’ , this is still the workshop for you.
We will use simple, inexpensive materials to help you bring colour, shape and images together with your words to infuse your journal colour and imagery.
Like our previous workshops in this series, the focus will be on using your journal as a safe place to explore your outer and inner world.
While we will be using art methods, this is not an art class focused on creating pieces to share with others. Participants will build confidence in using different creative materials and techniques in service of their personal journaling and exploration.

We will explore:
- Adding colour – how to express ourselves in colour, colour as backgrounds and colour in text, using materials that work well for this

- Symbols – an introduction to symbols and various ways these can be woven into your journaling
- The art of obscuring – working with layers of image and words with colour & texture
This workshop provides the support and space for participants to delve into the art of journal writing through a mix of active discussions and simple artistic exercises within a creative, fun and supportive environment.

Why Journal? Remind me…
Journaling is a wonderful life skill to have and to develop. It can be used to express emotions, foster self acceptance, notice patterns, develop solutions, nurture gratitude and more. It is a great tool to use through times of transitions, grief, growth or healing. Journaling is a way to connect with ourselves and our own wisdom. It is an evidence-based tool for self-care, self-therapy and mindfulness.
In these workshops you will learn how to journal for personal growth and reflection. The methods we use in each workshop will combine to create a great toolkit for your wellbeing that you can use anywhere, anytime. With two facilitators this workshop offers moments of personal coaching and guidance as well as group discussion and sharing.
